Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Canada-based Regional Medical
Officer (RMO): processes medical reports of prospective immigrants
and temporary residents to Canada; provides initial determination
of medical admissibility of applicants for review by RMO or contract
physician; provides final decision on medical admissibility for
certain medical files; participates in research for and the preparation
of reports and statistical information for submission to RMO and
Medical Services Branch; develops protocols and guidelines for
the management of routine medical files and those requiring special
handling; identifies impediments to and develops resolutions for
the effective delivery of the Regional Health Services program;
provides expert advice, assistance and support to Designated Medial
Practitioner program.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION
• Applicants
must hold either a Bachelor of Nursing (BN) degree/diploma from
a recognized university or college or a degree/diploma in the
medical field from a recognized University or College
OCCUPATIONAL
CERTIFICATE
• Certification
from a professional association or regulatory body (e.g. College
of Nurses of a province or territory of Canada or another acceptable
jurisdiction)
LANGUAGE
• Proficiency
in English
EXPERIENCE
• Recent
medical/nursing experience.
KNOWLEDGE
• Broad
knowledge of medical conditions, diagnostic procedures, treatment
protocols.
• Knowledge of Canada? Health Care system as it relates to
cost, waiting lists.
