Job Summary: Under the general direction of the Head of Ontario Office/Counsellor (Commercial Ontario), the Embassy of Canada in Beijing and with a measure of independent judgment and action, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of the Ontario commercial programs and providing the full range of secretarial and administrative services to the supervisor of the Ontario office.
The incumbent will assist in coordinating commercial programs and projects managed by the Ontario Office; facilitate communication between Ontario and the government and business contacts in the territory of Canadian Consulate in Chongqing; provide administrative support to the head of the IMC Beijing; provide needed support and market information to the Ontario public and private clients; act as a liaison for Ontario based officers, government officials and Ontario business people as requested; and perform other duties and services as required.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
• Received higher education in China and obtained a graduate degree from an Ontario University.
LANGUAGE:
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing and speaking);
• Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing and speaking).
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in dealing with the general public and customer/client service, particularly servicing Ontario public and private clients;
• Previous experience in dealing with Chinese government agencies and Chinese companies;
• Previous experience in working with the Canadian Embassy, Canadian Consulates in China and/or the Head Office of CCBC;
• Demonstrated experience in working with Ontario public and private sectors;
• Experience in performing general administrative duties.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Good knowledge of Ontario and its economic performance in Canada;
• Knowledge of business practices in China;
• Updated knowledge of Ontarioˇs trade and investment initiatives in China.
ABILITIES:
• Ability to provide administrative support services;
• Ability to research and synthesize data;
• Ability to perform translation and interpretation from Chinese to English and vice versa;
• Ability to plan and organize work flow, and organize information (paper and electronic format);
• Ability to effectively use word-processing and spreadsheet applications, including Microsoft Outlook for Windows, Excel and Word, and Internet applications.
