Beijing Playhouse, China's English language community theatre, seeks singers and actors for The Sound of Music. The hills are alive with Do-Re-Mi as Maria and the adorable Von Trapp children sing their way through war torn Austria and into your heart. Professional acting experience is not necessary. We love discovering new talent. Nationality is not important. Ability to perform in English is required. Cast and crew may be paid an itty bitty stipend based on show attendance.
Actors should prepare a song and will do a live read from the script. Prepared monologue is optional but not necessary. Actors welcome; not all roles require singing. (Call backs, if necessary, Tuesday, June 12 at 6:30 pm.)
At BP all roles are open. Needed:
  • 3 boys, age 5-17
  • 5 girls, age 5-17
  • 8 men, age 18-80
  • 10 women, 18-80

Performances are Wednesday - Saturday nights and Sunday matinees, September 7 - October 6, 2007. Rehearsals are Sunday - Thursday nights at 6:30 pm June 17 - September 5, 2007.

Beijing Playhouse's performances of The Sound of Music are conveniently located in the Chaoyang District in the modern new CIS theatre, 1 km east of the Kempinksi.
