Note From The Xianzai Team |
Dear
Readers:
Xianzai has been delivering weekly email newsletters to
the expatriate and foreign traveler community in China
for 8 years. We have never skipped a week, through rain
and sleet, and now we enter a new year hoping for even
better things in 2005.
But
celebrations for 2005 are muted. What happened in South
Asia this week has left us still waiting for word from
dear friends, colleagues, and subscribers who were on
the beaches of Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. Nothing
on this scale has ever happened, in our memories, and
the help needed by people in those countries, and others
like India, Maldives and Indonesia, is immediate and necessary.
The
Xianzai community of over 270,000 users is probably the
largest group of influential people anywhere in Asia.
You are the heads of multinationals, staff of embassies,
and movers and shakers in your industries. You can make
a very large difference. If each one of you can withhold
purchasing three cappuccinos this week and instead put
that money towards UNICEF, we can make a considerable
contribution to providing food and medicine to children
who have been affected.
In
almost a decade of operations, Xianzai has never asked
for users' help of this order, but we ask now because
of the great need. As we continue to wait for word from
our friends, we hope you too can respond in-kind. To make
an online donation to help the hundreds of thousands of
children and families struggling to survive the aftermath
of the Asian earthquakes and tsunamis, please click
here to visit UNICEF directly.
Many
thanks,
Xianzai Team
